Area financial institutions are warning of bank related phone, email and text message scams throughout New Hampshire. The suspects are communicating to residents and businesses in these ways, claiming to be your bank or credit union. They are asking for information such your account PIN number, last four of your social security, or asking you to verify your account number. Please realize that financial institutions such as banks or credit unions would never call, email or text you requesting this sort of information.
Since Monday, July 29th, numerous residents and businesses throughout the state have received these types of calls or scam messages. The Attorney Generals Office and the NH Banking Association as well as several lakes region area banks have issued similar warnings to their customers.
If you have accidentally given out any personal bank information as part of this scam, please contact your local police and the bank that the information related to.
If you have any questions, please contact the Tilton Police Department at 603-286-4442
